Australia: The Land Where Time Began

A biography of the Australian continent

Emerald Creek, Dinden State Forest

What's special?

On the Lamb Range west of Cairns, Emerald Creek in Dinden State Forest contains open forests and picturesque Emerald Creek Falls. The waterfall contrasts starkly with the surrounding dry, rocky landscape.

Exploring Emerald Creek

Have a picnic beside the creek in the shade of tall eucalypt trees.

Relax by the boulder-strewn creek or have a refreshing paddle. Enjoy the view towards Mareeba from a lookout over the falls and valley below.

Dogs and camping are not allowed in the forest.

Walking

Wear a hat, sunscreen and insect repellent. Take drinking water.

Getting there

Emerald Creek is 15km south-west of Mareeba via the Tinaroo Creek Road and Cobra Road. The road to the falls can be very rough and is unsuitable for caravans or trailers.
