Barawertornis tedfordi Dromornithidae, Late Oligocene-Early Miocene

This is the only species known of the genus. At about the size of a cassowary, 80-95 kg, the smallest known Dromornithid. It is believed to have been a forest dweller, that was a fast runner. It was found at the Riversleigh fossil site
