A biography of the Australian continent 

The Barka Basin, of Early Devonian to Carboniferous age, overlapping the adjacent Kanmantoo Fold Belt, is a molassic transitional tectonic sequence that comprises the Mulga Downs Group. These fluvial sediments are predominantly comprised of medium to coarse-grained sandstone, as well as some minor siltstone (Glen et al., 1985).
