Australia: The Land Where Time Began

A biography of the Australian continent

Blackman's Cave

In this cave there was a midden that was deposited between about 6,000 and 4,000 years ago. In this midden there were fish, and unlike the Rocky Cape caves, crab claws, as well as many more mammals than were found at Rocky Cape, rat kangaroos, rats, bandicoots and possums.

West Point Midden on the west coast and Little Swanport Midden on the east coast are examples of sites where there are no fish remains.
