Central & Lower Darling
River, western NSW Large numbers of grindstones have been found at this site that could only have come from quarries some distance away, at least 50-300 km, in the Scropes Range and Mooteingee (16,000-6 years ago). Stone quarries in the Willandra region may have been the source of stone artefacts found along the lower reaches of the Darling River, more evidence of ancient trade networks (Balme, 1991; Hope, 1993).
