Australia: The Land Where Time Began

A biography of the Australian continent

Eotyrannus lengi 'Dawn Tyrant' Early Cretaceous, Essex Formation, Isle of Wight, England

The original discovery was a juvenile with unfused skull bones, about 5 m long and weighing about 400 kg. An adult is estimated to have been up to 8 m long. It had characteristic features of the tyrannosaurs such as a specialised pelvic structure and features of the head and teeth, but it also retained longer arms than the later tyrannosaurs. Its legs were more slender than Tyrannosaurus.
