Hasties Swamp National Park What's special?On the Atherton Tableland, Hasties Swamp National Park protects a wetland which is a valuable refuge for waterbirds. Local and migratory birds visit this swamp.Only a few patches of the original open eucalypt woodland remain, a striking contrast to the lush rainforests found elsewhere on the tableland. The eucalypt forest remnant occurs on the change from basaltic to granitic soils Exploring HastiesGo birdwatching from a large bird hide at the edge of the swamp. See plumed whistling ducks, brolgas and magpie geese.Have a bush picnic. Camping is not allowed but you can stay nearby at Atherton or camp at Danbulla State Forest. AccessibilityThe toilets and bird hide are wheelchair-accessible.Getting thereHasties Swamp is just south of Atherton. Head along the Atherton-Herberton Road then turn left into Hasties Road and right into Kool Road.
