Australia: The Land Where Time Began

A biography of the Australian continent

Iluka Nature Reserve

Iluka Nature Reserve, on the outskirts of the north coast resort town of Iluka, is nestled at the end of the narrow peninsula where the Clarence River meets the ocean. The reserve protects the largest remaining beachside rainforest in NSW, a valuable remnant of what was once an extensive coastal forest. It was proclaimed as a nature reserve in 1976 and attained World Heritage listing 10 years later.
