Australia: The Land Where Time Began

A biography of the Australian continent

Kanangra-Boyd National Park

Highlights: Vast gorges, high lookouts and wild and scenic rivers lend Kanagra-Boyd's wilderness a rugged and dramatic grandeur. Thurat Spires, Kanangra Walls and Mount Cloudmaker provide sandstone scenery on a majestic scale.

Activities: For experienced bushwalkers there are plenty of opportunities for extended walks and backpack camping. Wildlife abounds at Boyd Crossing, where car-based camping is available (fees apply). A pleasant 10-minute walk from Kanangra Walls carpark takes you to a lookout over the park, the only wheelchair-accessible facility.

Access: 180 kilometres west of Sydney near Jenolan Caves on Kanangra Road (unpaved but suitable for 2WD).
