Arch of Septimius Severus, Roma, Italy Situated at the northern end of the Roman Forum, it is a triumphal arch erected in 204. It commemorates the victories of Emperor Septimius Severus and his 2 sons, Caracalla and Geta, over the Parthians in 195 and 203. For a while after the death of Septimius his 2 sons ruled jointly, until Caracalla had Geta assassinated. All references to Geta were removed from structures such as the Arch of Septimius.
