This site, thought to have been constructed about 1900 BC,  comprises 22 rows of stones, though evidence suggests there may originally have been 600. According to local tradition it is the site of a battle between The Keith Clan and the Gunn Clan. According to the legend, the Gunn clan won the battle and buried the dead of both clans, each with a stone at his head, as a memorial of the battle.
