Monkey Mia

Dolphin, Monkey Mia, Western Australia

Wild dolphins swim in to interact with people and be fed by hand.

The area has been called Monkey Mia since late in the 19 th Century. It is about 850 km north of Perth and 25 km from Denham.

Large numbers of dolphins live in Shark Bay . Some of these bottle nosed dolphins come in to the beach every day at a place called Monkey Mia. They are wild dolphins and don't need to be fed but apparently come in to interact with the people who visit the area.
