Norina rock shelter

There is evidence, in the forms of a 2- 3-fold increase in the number of artefacts in this cave, as well as Allen's Cave and Madura Cave, of a large increase in the population of the Nullarbor Plain about 6,000-4,000 BP, before which the population of the area was apparently slight. There was an associated increase of the pressure of the vegetation, as indicated by the pollen record at the sites, that is believed to have resulted from burning and collecting wood for building huts.
